Welcome to another episode of Curating Connection. I'm so excited for you all to meet Catherine and to hear her experiences receiving signs. Welcome, Kathryn. Thank you for having me. I'm so glad you're here. Catherine, tell me a little bit about your experience with signs and and let's just dive in. Okay.

Speaker

Well, I have my father passed away when I was five. Or sorry, nope, that's wrong. So my father passed away when I was 15. And then I recently lost my mom, and it'll be two years this year. And so I've just gotten signs throughout the years, and especially from my dad when I was younger. Do you want me to tell you about those sometimes?

Speaker 1

Yeah, I would love to hear about them.

Speaker

So a couple of like notable ones from my dad were that he used to buy me unicorn things all the time. And I was walking home from school one day and I looked out at the ground and I saw a unicorn sticker that said you're special.

Meet Catherine And Her Story

Speaker

Another time when I was in college, my dad used to send me birthday cards with money in it every year, $20 specifically. And I was just walking around, didn't have any money for lunch, and was just feeling sorry for myself. And I was like, Dad, I could really use that $20 you used to send me on my birthday. And I looked down and there was the $20 on the ground. And then when I was moving from Pennsylvania to North Dakota, I went to visit my dad's grave one last time and just was saying, you know, talking to him, saying, I don't know when I'm going to be back. And it's a really cloudy day. And then the um I said I could really use a sign that you're you're here and you know that I'm leaving. And then the south started and the sun shined through. And I just knew he was there with me.

Clear Signs From Her Dad

Speaker 1

Talk about connection as you're outside and really paying attention. Yeah. Everything was related to being present, right? And aware at that specific time. Yeah. I can't imagine how that made you feel when you found that unicorn sticker.

Speaker

Yeah. I was just, I mean, that was the first time I'd really like asked for a sign or received a sign or like knew about signs. So that was, I don't know. I just it's I felt kind of powerful because I just like put it out into the universe and literally looked down and there was a sign, and it couldn't have been more like specific, actually. Like, so you know, I think sometimes you ask for signs and and don't realize that they're they're coming to you, but it was I don't know, it was just kind of like I don't know every time I'd asked for something kind of specifically, like I I got that sign from him. And I feel like with my mom, it's not as like intentional, it's like more subtle, the signs that I get from her. Yeah.

Speaker 1

Yeah, because instantaneous sticker and money, money, money. I tried the money thing again. Never worry. One of our previous episodes, Susie, another guest, had received a surprise hundred dollar bill on the ground, too. So people pay attention as you're walking. Look around, right? Be present. And like Catherine said, ask for a sign. Sounds like your mom's signs are maybe not as apparent or intentional as of yet. Share with me a little bit more about that.

Speaker

Yeah, I just I feel like, you know, I talk to my mom in my head a lot, and I feel like I, you know, I know what she would say or do or want me to do, the advice that she would give me. So I'm not sure if that is a

Presence Makes Signs Easier

Speaker

sign, but I just I feel like maybe I miss things kind of out in the world as I'm going about my my day because I'm just kind of always have this inner dialogue with her. But I mean, like there will be times where, you know, thinking about her having a really hard day. I mean, like I was saying, I you know, turn on social media to just like you know be binding them or whatever. And then like uh the Carlos Santana video will come on, and that was her favorite singer, and like would not be anything that that would normally show up on my feed, you know, so just like kind of little subtle signs like that. But yeah, I don't know if I, you know, I was not

Subtle Signs From Her Mom

Speaker

as close to my dad, and I don't know what he would do or say, or and so I don't know, maybe I'm I'm more observant or aware of things, of signs from him, where my mom's are more subtle.

Speaker 1

Yeah, so maybe that physical sign that you're seeing from your your dad, or the physical signs that you did see, would be more practical since that relationship was different than with your mom, where you know, kind of mother daughters are always throwing advice back and forth and what would you do in situations and kind of that inner knowing with those conversations. I know you did share something with me that I think is not just a coincidence but a connection. Would you feel comfortable sharing a job situation?

Speaker

Um, sure, yeah. So I recently applied for a job. I was very excited about it, did not get the first offer. So I was sitting in my car feeling sorry for myself. I have a picture of my mom on my visor, and I was just talking to her, and I was like, here's here's another job that I like put myself out there for, and I I didn't get it, and you know, just like you've seen me go for these promotions so many times, and like here we are again, like nothing has changed, you know. But I've like really wanted this one, and so that was you know, the evening after work, and the the very next morning I got a call that said, like, uh, we do want to offer you the job, like the other candidate fell through, and I was just I feel like that was some push from the universe saying, like, that's enough.

Speaker 1

This girl's ready, let's go light it up with Catherine, yeah, right? Because even let's just say playing devil's advocate, even if

A Job Rejection That Flips

Speaker 1

the first person turned it down, right? Could have been other candidates as well as you that would have been at the top. But after making that declaration and sharing that heartfelt concern and connecting with your mom, God, the universe, whatever it was, there was a little disruption that was unexpected. Yeah, kind of like a nice little surprise that came your way.

Speaker

Yeah, and there's been a few times, and like the last couple years have just been well, I should say, the last like five years have been very difficult and for a number of reasons. And my mom saw some of that, you know, and and the last time I saw her in person was like, you know, you you you got Kate to take care of, you got to do these things for yourself, and you know, just like really like I see you're in a funk, and like you need to get out, and this has been just a really hard time. And then she passed away, and then like my I mean, that was horrible luck, of course, but then there were just many kind of little things after that, like that were great luck. It was like my luck had kind of turned from bad luck to good luck in in so many ways, so things just started kind of like getting better, you know, and that's weird you know to say because it was it's a horrible place to be grieved with your parent. But like things started to kind of look up, and I feel like that was her from the other side.

Speaker 1

Choking me up as well. Maybe she's working some no, I want to say she is moving things in your favor during this period of time in your life, and those doors of opportunity are opening for you. And I think that that is one of the things that can happen when we think about synchronicities, right? Or coincidences, or just like what does change for us that all of a sudden things happen? I I truly believe whether it's your God, you know, well, if you believe in a God or your mom or prayer or intention or whatever, I do believe things like that can shift.

When Luck Turns After Loss

Speaker 1

And I I mean, after hearing the job story, I think she's up there, like, you know, you're you're I you're Irish, correct? Yes. We just went to St. Patrick's Day last week. It's like the luck of the Irish, it's time for gathering right now.

Speaker

My family usually says the luck of the Irish is bad.

Speaker 1

Okay, sorry about that. No, no, no, no.

Speaker

That's how it should be that's it's it's the dark Irish humor. Just say, oh, this is the luck of the Irish.

Speaker 1

So when you're thinking about the thing, the signs from your mom that might be less subtle, or maybe they are just this orchestration of things for you being aligned, how does it feel to kind of sit with that? Like maybe she's working her magic and it's just not physical, something physical that I can pick up, but it's something that's gonna change my physical being here on earth.

Speaker

Yeah, I I just I don't know, I feel like it makes me just feel very still connected with her and that that she can still see all the good things, you know. Like when she died, I was like, I'm not gonna have any fun anymore, and I'm not gonna do anything great with my life because she's not gonna be able to see it, like you know, thinking like that. But you just like as time goes on and you see good things happening, and then you see these signs, you realize that they're still here and they can still see what you're doing.

Speaker 1

Yeah. I think everyone that's listening has experienced grief in some fashion. And I think it's 100% normal to like have those feelings, right? And it feels like they just can be so deep and so intense, and we can only sit with where we are at that time. And even if we can't feel that connection, that connection can still be around us, just getting us through those two or three minutes, you know, or suddenly we realize get your butt out of bed, you know, and get moving. And where is this coming from? But you know, things slowly can change, and we it's gonna be an ebb and flow, I think, all of our lives. I I mean, I think we all know, you know, we probably will lose a loved one in our life before we transition out of this these suits. But I tell you what, it's I feel like it's not a club I'm ever wanted to be in, and it's been really difficult, right? We lost, and my parents were also significant in your life and in your daughter's lives, yeah. And a lot of loss on top also can make those emotions really hard, yeah, right, to get going. But I do know that your mom definitely wants you out there having fun. Yeah, for sure.

Speaker

I think uh she'd be like, this is ridiculous, you know, like get out of bed and go do your stuff, you know. She would not tolerate mindset at all.

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah. I when I was having a hard day one day, I literally just thought, okay, what would what would my mom do, right? To yeah, to have fun with me or to be happy and you know, from drinking a Diet Coke and I don't want to hear anybody telling me how bad Diet Coke is for you. It doesn't matter if you everything's good. Yeah. It was that, and you know, either going to a nursery like Bachman's in Minnesota and smelling the flowers or going to thrift store or to a TJ Max, just those things, or creating a little more ambiance around my home because she was such a good decorator. Sometimes we just have to follow those fun leads. Like, what would they do for fun?

Speaker

So, yeah. Sometimes I like watch some of the movies my mom and I used to watch. Like she was like a reader, you know, like she would turn on like HGTV and stuff, but mostly like she just read constantly. But like when she was with me, she knew I liked to watch comedy movies, and so she would like entertain that. And so I do like to just like

Grief And Letting Joy Back In

Speaker

turn on one of the movies that we used to watch, and then the things that like would make her laugh, like, even though I've seen the movie a million times, like it makes me laugh, and and and I sound so much like my mom. Like she just had this laugh, and I I have like I have many different laughs, but there's this just particular laugh that is very much my mom, and and if that like comes through and I like hear her voice and my laugh, like that that's really cool. I think that's a sign too, because I don't normally laugh like she did, but yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1

So I think it's a comedy weekend coming up soon. Yes, lack-to-back comedy is coming your way. You've shared some really significant signs that you've received from your dad and from your mom. Is there any intuition, mindset, or signs that you've received in other areas of your life that haven't been related so much to last?

Speaker

Oh gosh, I would really have to think on that one. I just I don't know. I feel like because my dad died so young that I attach most every sign up until my mom passed away to him, you know. And I feel like I I'd really have to think about it. I mean, I know that there's other things that are like that was a guardian angel, you know, maybe like when I was younger, or thinking like my grandma died when I was five. And I was very close to her, and like, you know, perhaps I like I don't I think I was probably just like too young to know. I maybe thought it was like guardian angels or something, but for the most part, since I was so young, I just think everything came from my dad, yeah, until now.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that makes total sense. And as we're kind of discussing the signs that you have received, obviously there's been periods of times where there's probably been a lack of signs or we haven't noticed signs for anybody today that is still wondering where their sign is or how they can receive their sign. Do you have any thoughts or wisdom you could share with them, Catherine, around that?

Speaker

I think just being open to it, and and I think a lot of things we just attach to coincidence, which aren't coincidence at all. I mean, like even if you haven't had somebody that's passed away, and perhaps this is just somebody, you know, your spirit guide or guardian angel or you know, what whatever you believe in. But I think I don't know. I don't I just don't think that things I think there is some sort of guide. Things don't just happen. Uh yeah. So it's just kind of like being open to it and thinking, like, you know, when you think, oh, this is a quite a coincidence, or like wow, how my luck is turned around. Like, can you think about like maybe what what that was attached to? Like there has to be some sort of firepower guiding that.

Speaker 1

All right, guys, you heard that. Just be open to it. And Catherine was making you think really, like,

How To Notice And Track Signs

Speaker 1

what's attached to it? And I would take that one step further. Maybe that's where you're starting to gather your evidence. So either take a photo of it if it's something you can photograph or write it down in a journal, or even voice note it to yourself and just say, hmm, I think that's this might be a sign, and start gathering that evidence because sometimes I've found that people do need it's almost like a little encyclopedia confirmation, because after the fifth time you see the same thing, you might be like, Oh, that's it. That that's it. That was a sign. And you're like, why didn't I see that the last six months I've been doing with them? So start your little evidence journal. And then one question I'd love to ask everybody is what are you curating connection in your life with at this time?

Speaker

Like, what what do you mean?

Speaker 1

What are you what are you focusing on right now in connecting with it in your life? What's important right now?

Speaker

Right now is I was kind of preparing for my mind for a new beginning with this job. I feel like it is the nature of the job is one that is going to potentially open doors for me. So I'm trying to just kind of like reset my life, you know, just like organizing my home and just getting things together and you know, focusing on on my daughter and her mental well-being and yeah, just kind of like looking forward to just like bright new beginnings.

unknown

Yeah.

Speaker 1

This is so perfect as springtime. You're springing right into the new you planted all those seeds, and now they're gonna start blossoming for you shortly. And I love that you're really focused on

Curating Connection With New Beginnings

Speaker 1

really loving your soul self at this time, taking time for you and your daughter, and creating that space and safeness around you so that you can just spring into action. Yeah, yeah. Anything else you want to say today before we wrap up, Catherine?

Speaker

Just look for the signs, they're out there.

Speaker 1

All right, guys, you heard it until next uh time. Look for the signs and thank you so much for being with us today. Thank you.
